What we keep, and what we don’t
Revised 2 November 2026
The short version of our privacy practice
Birchtrailplay collects as little as a website can. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment boxes and no newsletter. You can read everything here without telling us who you are.
This page explains the few things that do happen when you visit, where that information goes, and how to clear it.
Your saddlebag and the notice choice live on your device
When you tap a heart to save a game, or answer the small cookie notice, the site writes that choice to localStorage in your own browser. It stays on your device and is never sent to us; we have no copy and no way to see it.
Clearing your browser data, or the site data for birchtrailplay.com, removes your saddlebag and your notice choice completely. A shared saddlebag link simply carries game names in the address so a friend’s browser can rebuild the list.
The lettering and where it comes from
Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. To deliver the font files, Google receives your IP address and basic browser details, as it would for any site using that service. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Apart from the font request, the pages and illustrations come from our own server. If you would rather avoid that request entirely, a browser setting or extension that blocks third-party fonts will still let every page display, just in a plainer default typeface. Nothing else on the site depends on outside services to work.
What we deliberately leave out
Birchtrailplay runs no analytics package, no advertising trackers, no tracking pixels and no social-media widgets that report back to third parties. We do not build profiles of readers, and we do not know which pages you read.
When you email the editors
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to read and answer your message, and we keep the correspondence only as long as needed for that conversation.
We never add correspondents to mailing lists, and we never pass emails to anyone else.
Publishers’ sites are their own
Play buttons open the official game sites in a new tab. Once you are there, the publisher’s own privacy policy applies to anything you do, including creating an account. We receive nothing back from those visits.
PIPEDA and what you can ask of us
We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You may ask us what information we hold about you, which in practice can only be an email you sent, and ask us to correct or delete it.
If you are unhappy with how we have answered a privacy concern, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We would be grateful for the chance to put things right first at [email protected].
